Are There Any Side Effects Of Taking Birth Control During Periods?

I have recently started taking birth control and it is a 21 day pack of pills. I didn't realize that I was supposed to stop taking the pill for seven days so I could have my period. But I have only taken the pill for three of the seven days I was not supposed too. Should I continue to take the pills? Or stop?
