Are There Any Substitute Medicines For Tramadol?

I have been a Tramadol user for 8 years treating a severe back condition that is inoperable. I have had success with it; however, my pain management Dr. denied refilling my last prescription. I called his office and was told he no longer would be treating chronic pain patients. My PCP, who has prescribed it in the past, is no longer prescribing it. I understand there is a new law regarding it s level as a controlled drug which was passed in August 2014. I m curious to know what has happened. My Drs. seem reluctant to talk to me. I ve contacted my prescription insurer and no new information on Tramadol is forthcoming. What is going on?
