As A Parent Of A 14 Year Old Boy With

As a parent of a 14 year old boy with mild autism and occasional seizures, how do I decide whether or not to put my son on anticonvulsant medication when the side effects and long term kidney/liver damage are possible. Is it worse to have the partial seizure/petit mal or be on the medication. Thank you.
