At random times, my ears will "throb" and feel like they do when I yawn (pressure/fullness/ temporary deafness) It doesn't just happen while I'm wearing headphones, nor when I'm in an enclosed space like my car, but it also happens while watching TV, or simply listening to my daughter sing. I've never been one to listen to loud music growing up, and certainly CAN'T now, even if I wanted to. Sounds/decibel levels that are "normal" to everyone else are PAINFUL to me, and cause sensations of throbbing pressure in my ears. (Both ears simultaneously.)
As I've aged, of course I've noticed some measure of hearing loss, but the temporary, deafness-inducing pressure changes feel like a mild electric shock-type "twinge." This feeling in no way mimics the "popping" of the ears after being on a plane. These symptoms are very annoying, (temporary deafness), but more importantly, troublesome (pain). Are these symptoms indicative of barotrauma? If so, should I consult with an ENT?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards.
