Atropine Is Being Used To Reduce Secrections On A 90

Atropine is being used to reduce secrections on a 90 yr old female with ascending aortic aneurysm, AVR, and MVR. She currently currently has uncontrolled coughing and coughing up a lot of gunk. An OTC cough suppressant and Atropine was ordered by her PCP. My question is, should she continue with the cough suppressant to losen up the phelgm or should the Atropine dry up the secretion?.
