Banged The Top Of My Head 3 Years Ago, It

Banged the top of my head 3 years ago, it was very painful, no bleeding, didn't attend A+E. However I'm occasionally experiencing pain from that area and it is tender to touch the bump. I feel embarrassed to bring it up to a dr after so long. Do you think I should just keep ignoring it?
