Broke My Left Humerus Few Inches Below Shoulder. Surgery Was

Broke my left humerus few inches below shoulder. Surgery was done on the 10th of May (2016). Surgeon put in a plate and screws no cast. Was sent home to do exercises on this arm for the two weeks before I see him again for follow-up. I am not sure how much exercise to do. I can wash my dishes as long as they aren't heavy and I'm careful to not put too much strain on this arm. Im 63 female in very good health and am a plant based eater. Very active as a rule! Don't do being injured very well...but know I have to cool-it. Can straighten my arm out pretty good but there's still a bit of a crook in the elbow(hurts bicep but then that subsides)...was told to hang my arm as much as possible...my muscles are sore in my biceps mostly..still black and blue on the back side of my arm from injury down to wrist. I am taking acetaminophen 650mg ea (I take 2) and usually only twice a day. Plus a Chinese herb called The Great Mender (helps to move stagnate blood and keep inflammation down..helps in healing broken bones. I am achy at night mostly 2ish in the morning thats when I usually take my pain pill mentioned above. I hope I'm not doing too much activity...don't want to hurt the bone. Advice?
