Can Famotidine Be Ceased Without Tapering The Dosage?

My doctor took me of Atenolol and Lisinopriil two years ago without having me do so tapering off.. I wound up in the hospital two days later with very rapid heart.. I'm ok now.. My question is this.. Can i just quit taking Famotidine 40 mg. without tapering off?
