Can Invocana Be Taken For Type-2 Diabetes?

My husband has type 2 diabetes. He cannot take metformin due to the side effects of severe stomach pain. He was taking Prandin which worked great for him...however it started damaging his kidneys. His kidneys are fine now since he switched to Victoza. Now the Victoza has stopped working. What do you think about him switching to Invocana?
