Can Ketoconazole Cream Be Used For Severe Vaginal Itching?

I have a vaginal yeast infection which I normally get when my period is on but this one is really bad. I have tried not to scratch but somehow it itches more than usual and I have broken the skin on the lips of my vaginal. Now it just stings when I go to the bathroom and have to wipe. I go the extra mile to keep that area very clean when my period is on but it always seem to itch. I have some ketoconazole cream I use for a different condition, can I use that cream for my vaginal infection?
