Can A Long-term Type 2 Diabetic With Persistently High Blood Sugar Now Require Insulin?

I am.a diabetic since 1995. .For last one year my sugar level was apx 350 with medication. Galvas met and met ride twice daily before dinner and lunch. . My doctor suggests to take insulin twice daily from now on. He says that though I was a diabetic 2 i have become diabetic now. Is it possible ?I have become very weak and can t eat properly. Please suggest what I should do thank you
