Can A Moderate Nevus On Lower Back Be Melanoma?

Hello, my daughter was born june of 2010 with a moderate Nevus on her lower back. She went to the dermatologist is January and they said to bring her back once a year. It seems to be getting bigger and it has moles and hair inside. I'm wondering if I should take her back before January. I can send a picture. In January the doc said it seemed innocent but I'm worried about melanoma. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.
