Can a person catch genital herpes without sexual contact? Or can this lay dormant for years before it appears? I have not had sexual contact for about 6 years. I had a severe flu virus last January. This came on in June and seems cyclical since that time. It gets severe and peaks and then subsides for a few days to a week and then comes on again.
