Can A Spider Bite Cause Nausea And Swelling?

My daughter was biten by a spider (maybe) yesterday and she has a bruise the size of a quarter and I puncture in the center. Yesterday, it was red, today it's purple. Can she apply something topically from over the counter or is a trip to the doctor necessary. She has no symptoms (pain, nausea, swelling). The sign is the brusing.
