Can A Tampon Stuck In The Vagina Cause Fever?

Hi, may I answer your health que Please help...I am a nurse educator and have questions about a tampon which I believe has migrated somewhere in the culdesac between my vagina and rectum. I had two OB doc's examine me during my last period. I now have another period and I think the tampon is still in there...for three weeks now. I have a low grade fever and have been a bit dizzy. The docs say that there is no tampon in there and that a sonogram won't show it anyway. I requested the RX and will wait a day until I stop bleeding...unless my temp. goes above 100. Is this the right approach and will a somogram show this? Can the tampon be in some fold or embedded somewhere...I have tried everything to get it out...I have excellent assessment skills. Please advise! Thanks.
