Can An Old Rotator Cuff Injury Cause Spasms In Neck And Shoulder?

I have a torn rotator cuff in my left shoulder, the result of a fall on ice over 10 years ago. I did not opt for the surgery at that time. I am now experiencing spasms on the left side in my neck and shoulder.. When it spasms, it is like a Charlie horse. Could this be due to the rotator cuff injury?
