Can Being Diagnosed With HPV Explain Soreness Of Penis?

I have never had a lump, cut, or anything on my penis. Last weekend my girlfriend and I had sex 7 times in 2 days. I was very sore after all the sex. 7 days later a little cut showed up on the side of my penis. my girlfriend was recently diagnosed with hpv and has an exam in 2 weeks. My question is could this be related to the hpv, just friction related, or should i be more concerned? Again it is only one spot. i have researched online documents about std in the past and most everything I have seen doesn't look anything like what I have.
