Can Bending Of The Nail Cause Splinter Hemorrhages?

Hello there, i am 19 year old, caucasian male and i have done my research to find that i have splinter hemorrhages on my thumbs and index fingers...i have found that it could be endocarditis or trauma to the nail ( most consistent diagnosis) ....my question is this, these splinters only appeared when i started growing my nails after a long period of biting them, i still tend to bite them now, however more so making contact with my teeth and biting down but not as to penetrate the nail (habit). I wish to know if this repetitive biting and sometimes bending of the nail could cause these splinter hemorrhages? Many thanks
