Can Birth Control Pills Affect Periods?

Hi I am 23 and my periods have been long and starting earlier each month. I was on birthcontrol until December. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant and so far no luck. Whats going on with my periods? They were never like that before. I could always count 28 days and know it was coming and it would be 8 or 9 days.
