Can Birth Control Pills Be Stopped Abruptly?

Hello, I am 20 years old and have been on Loestrin 24 fe for 6 months now. Ever since I have started taking birth control it has made me very very moody, gain weight, and I never want to get in the mood. I am think about quitting my birth control but I started a new pack sunday. Is it ok to stop in the middle of the pack?
