Can Birth Control Regulate Irregular Period?

I have been trying to conceive daily for over a year and haven't gotten pregnant. I have irregular periods and thats all my current doctor will look at she want me star birth control to regulate, however that seems to be the opposite of what i am trying to do. i want to have a baby and my doctor isn't working with me.
