Can Black Specks On Tampon Be Symptoms Of Toxic Shock Syndrome?

I pulled out my tampon and it had black spots and specks and it was maroun colored and smelt awful. Its happend at least once or twice during each cycle this past year. I guess ive been to scared to go in and see a doctor. Is this a sign of toxic shock syndrome?
