Can Canesten Hc Cream Be Applied On Face?

hi, i went to my gp the other day with a skin complaint on my face, he first said it could be eczema and then said he thought it was a fungal infection.. he gave me canesten hc. i read the leaflet to find out how to use it and it says do not use on face....so am just wondering if i should use it on my face or not??
