Can Delaying Bath After Swimming In Swimming Pool Affect Hair?

i went swimming yeterday and i didnt shower after. i slept on my hair just like i normally do but this morning when i took a shower , my hair still felt crispy and disgusting like it still had chlorine in it , and now that im trying to brush and straighten it its not working to weel and its super ratty. why ?
