Can Dressing Be Removed From An Infected Toenail While Taking Bath?

I went to the doctor for a nail infection today. I'm supposed to go back for a checkup tomorrow morning. In the mean-time, I forgot to ask if I should take off the dressing from my toe when I shower. (I really need to shower as it's hot and humid here and I was all sweaty.) If I take it off, what should I do to my toe after the shower? They cut off the corner of my nail to expose the infected part and put on some sort of ointment on it.
