Can Dry Patches On Back And Chest Be Due To Sweat?

I have circular dry patches on my back and chest. I just saw a dermatologist and she recommended me to use Naftin cream or gel. At first I thought it was psoriasis, but then she said it was fungus infection. She also said the cause of those patches are due to sweats. Is that true?
