Can Ectopic Pregnancy And Tube Removal Cause Delay Periods?

I am 32 years old and having problems after an ectopic pregnancy and tube removal. It will be a year next week since the surgery, (I did suffer a horrible infection after the surgery, putting me back in the hospital and 2 rounds of Cipro) My cycles were like clockwork before the surgery. Now I have a period every 2-3 months, I have pain where my ovaries are all the time. I've seen 3 different OB/GYNs and they say they dont' think anything is wrong from ultrasound, that the best bet is to go on birth control to reset my periods. From everything I've read, I should NOT still be having pain (except maybe during ovulation) I have very sharp pains, intermittently where my ovaries are all the time. The dr's have also told me that tube removal and ectopic pregnancy does not affect cycles at all and don't think it's connected. I'm getting frustrated. Help!
