Can Facial Lipoma Be Safely Excised Surgically?

Hi, my 9 year son has a lipoma on his face under his eye, it is pretty noticeable, he has had it for the past 2/3 years. He has now starting to ask me if he can have it remove as he is getting concious of it. would you advise me to a surgical excision, I thought may be as he is still young the scar would have more chances to dissapear as he grows. Thank you.
