Can Fleas Live Inside Of Pillows Or Under Upholstery Fabrics?

Can fleas live inside of pillows or under upholstery fabrics? I have what appear to be flea bites, but we have not been able to find any fleas. We think there may be some in the furniture. Can they bite through light-weight clothing? I am very sensitive to bug bites. Some of these have been the size of quarters; small lump in the center of a red wheal. Some had blisters; some have oozed at the bite site. On some, the top of the bite area feels ridgey. It has taken almost 3 wks. for the blistered bites to heal completely. I have been bitten 5 separate times in the last 3 weeks; always after sitting on the couches. Any advice? Jan at YYYY@YYYY
