Can Garnella Be Infected Through Oral Sex?

I m prone to garnerella. Is it possible for my boyfriend to contract it orally? Recently after giving me oral sex he developed badly inflamed lymph nodes under his chin and Jaw line. Doctor said he has a staph infection from cut in corner of his lip. Also said is is not contagious but my understanding is that staph infections are highly contagious.
