Can Heartburn Cause Hoarse Voice?

My voice has been very hoarse for a year and a few months. It s pretty terrible because I can t talk to people when I m in loud areas like bars. Anytime I try to raise the volume of my voice, it just goes. People have a very difficult time listening to me. I m 23 years old and I don t have any real allergies. My hoarseness is not accompanied by pain in my throat. I ve been told that acid reflux may be the culprit, too; i never really had heartburn but the last couple of weeks I ve had heartburn (but I don t think I exhibit the other symptoms). I don t smoke and I drink occasionally. Any idea what could be the cause? I m a little worried about cancer.
