Can Hot Baths Be Taken To Treat Bartholin Cyst At Home?

Hello. I have had a bartholin gland cyst for about 5 years and it has always been about the size of a grape but it never caused any problems. Now, it is causing some minor pain so I have been getting in hot baths every day for about 3 weeks. It went down about 25% last week but it's right back as big as it was. I tried doing my own surgery and a little bit came out and it was a brown discharge. My question is, is it dangerous to keep takig baths and trying to cure it on my own? I really don't want to get a staph infection. What are the smptoms of that?
