Can I Start Contraceptive Pills Even If Period Has Not Come Yet?

I recently skipped a month of my pills due to issues with insurance company. I should have started my period this last week, but it hasnt came. I took a home pregnancy test yesterday and it is negative. Is it ok for me to start a new pack of pills now even if my period has not come yet? I am 24 5'2 and 125 pounds.
