Can Inner Ear Problems Cause Sudden Dizziness With Nausea?

my husband is 56 he started having bouts of sudden onset dizziness and nausua the last time it was bad enough co workers took him to the dr, who adv he is not having issues with bood pressure and they did a full blood work up no issues there or with sugar levels. They did adv that he was having inner ear trouble and suggested he may need to have tubes in his left ear. Well he just had another bout of this tonight so severe that he got sick. seems to start with the dizziness then progress to upset stomach can you offer any advice?
