Can Intake Of Caffeine From Energy Drink Cause Discomfort And Pain In Chest?

My son is 20 years old and plays alot of soccer, has played since he was 8. A couple of days ago he drank a 5 hour energy drink and had to stop at an emergency room because he felt discomfort in his chest. They monitored him for a couple of hours on an ekg and was told he was fine. So today he drank a coke and ate a chocalate bar and said his chest started hurting. I think it s to much caffiene but then again I m not a dr and he has never had these problems before.
