Hello,
I am scheduled for an ovarian cyst removal laproscopic procedure. I have had this simple, fluid filled cyst for over 15years. It is giving me no symptoms, however it has double in size so, now it is 7cm. It has been monitored during the past 15 years. My surgeon explained a number of routine accompanying procedures, like a "stomach wash", biopsy from the lining of the uterus and a curette to make sure all is safe. I am wondering if these accompanying routine procedures are necessary. I would like to keep the procedure the least invasive as possible. Also, is it necessary to have this procedure involving the vagina? Can it be done purely through the abdominal wall? My reproductive health is otherwise good, with regular periods and no symptoms of any disease. I am 46 years of age.
I would appreciate any advice. - Thank you! Sue.
