Can Laxative Be Taken For Constipation After Undergoing TAH With BSO?

I am five days post op tah bso due to uterine cancer. I had 2 loose bowel movements 2nd day post op and can not seem to have any more. I am passing gas somewhat but feel bloated and very uncomfortable. Can I take a mild laxativ? I am now eating a regular diet but my appetite is half of what it was before.
