Can Lower Back And Hip Pain Be Indicative Of Having Lost Mucus Plug?

I'm 34 wks pregnant and was wondering how do I know I lost my mucus plug? I've told my doctor I think I have and I've been having hip and lower back pains like crazy but my doctor tells me to jus lay down n drink water. Won't check me or anything cause she says it's too early. I don't know what to do?
