Can Nicotine Gum Be Substituted For Cigarette Post Stent Placement?

I just had a sixth stent put in Friday. Two from 8 years ago and 3 from 5 years ago existed. I am now finally trying to quit smoking. I have got down to about 5 cigarettes a day but I struggle with quitting all together. Can I use Nicorette gum 4 mg safely instead of cigarettes?
