Can Playing Football Advisable With Perforated Eardrum?

I have a perforated eardrum- ent specialist says it is a small perforation- but my gp who is a surgeon too says its quite large. Its not painful but i know its there. Two questions 1) Can i still play football knowing that i have this and 2) should i ask my ent to speed up my return appointment as the gp says its a considerable size?
