Can Psoriasis Be Treated With Ointment?

Hi I have a 10 yearl old with psorasis, started on the finger nails and now is slowing seen on the knees and head, he is on treament with ointment and we have seen some changes to the nail, wha t are the chances of this going away especially that he heis youn please help.
