Can Regular Hormone Injections Help The Weak, Crackling Bones In Back Of Elderly Lady?

My 90 year old mother has been diagnosed with very weak back bones. We can literally hear her bones crackle loudly when she tries to sit down. A rheumatologist has prescribed daily hormone injections to her back for 14 days. Have you heard of such injections ? Are they any good ? Will they strengthen my mother s back? Or are they harmful ?
