Can Sex Be Done During Bacterial Vaginosis?

im 23 years old and im currently being treated for bacterial vaginosis and im on day four of my treatment with a vaginal gel administered at bed time i have one more day left of treatment and i was wondering why i cant have sex while being treated...if i use a condom would that be fine?
