Can Stopping Intake Of Plaquinil Due To Having Retinopathy Cause Withdrawal?

I was just diagnosed with retinopathy and advised to stop taking plaquinil right away. I can t get an appointment right away to see my rheumatologist to get my medication changed. Will it be harmful to stop taking plaquinil cold turkey? Or should I taper the dosage?
