Can Taking Birth Control Pills Cause Skin Break Outs?

I started using a new skincare product around the same time I switched my birth controll pill. It has been about two months and just a few days ago I broke out severely around the chin and cheek area. I stopped using the skincare product I was using hoping that's the cause. It is very irritating and painful. What do you reccommend?
