Can Taking Medications Post Expiry Date Cause Vomiting?

Just curious about why I vomited last night (very rare for me). I took ibuprophin for aching muscles in my neck (went skiing during the day) 4 hours after dinner. the ib didn't work so after an hour I took zzzqul to help me sleep through the night with the pain. About 15 minutes later, I vomited the remains of our earlier dinner. We noticed later that the ib expired in 2011. It's 2014 now. Could the old ib have made me vomit because I hadn't eaten in a few hours?
