Can Thyroid Cause Irregular Periods And Weight Gain?

Was told yesterday that My thyroid is in failure.with years of these symptoms I want help,but just moved to a new province and this doctor is just seeing me on a emergency basis.he said that I will need supplements.i just want help.i have my periods every two weeks since I was 38yrs old,and have pretty much all those symptoms,and have the hardest time losing weight.this plays a huge roll in my life .i don't stop all day eat righ exercise,but nothing budges.i also had a hard time getting pregnant,but have two beautiful boys whom are 6yrs apart because we kepts trying to have children.anyways what I'm saying is if I have all thes symptoms can't I get help now?or whom should I see now.please help.so frustrated
