Can Thyroid Surgery Result In Weight Gain?

HI! I did have Hyperthyroid and was losing weight. I was put on thyroid medications and now I have Hypothyroid. I have gained some weight again and now my thyroid is swollen. I am being sent to a surgeon now. I am afraid to have surgery and will I gain more weight? Please advice me. Thank You!
