Can Use Of Implanon Contraceptive Cause Bipolar Disorder?

I am 26 and suffer from bipolar type 2 and am currently using the implanon contreception. Is there any link between the implanon causing mania or is that false? My Psychiatrist feels that it is the implanon that is causing the rapid mood cycles and that I should try a different form of contreception but I am not so sure that the two are linked as I have been on the implanon for 9 years and have had the diagnosis of bipolar type 2 for any 5 years. I am confused and dont want to stop the implanon if its not necessary
