Can Walking Help In Healing Pilonidal Surgery Wound Faster?

I have done a pilonidal surgery 21 days ago and my wound is open.The doctor said that 40 - 50% of the wound has treated .Some people say to me to walk and they saying that walking make the healing of the wound faster.Is that true?If so,How long should I walk?
